An endowment fund is
similar
to a permanent savings account. The amount given to the endowment is not
spent,
but the earnings from the principal are available for Camp
projects or for purposes specified by the donor.
The Camp's endowment fund presently is around
$15,000. Any interest generated by the fund at this time is being
reinvested into the fund. It is our goal to have an
endowment fund
that exceeds $500,000, by the year 2010, so that the interest generated by
the principal is
great enough to use for capital improvements.
Camp
de
Benneville
Pines was
established in 1961 on 17 acres in the San Bernardino National Forest. Although the land is leased, the buildings and
equipment are owned and maintained by the Camp. As the facilities age, the
need for repairs and replacement is great. Eventually, the interest earned
off a sizable endowment fund will help to pay for annual
improvements.
Your annual support of $100 per year, will help us
to grow our endowment to a point where the interest generated
can be used to support the Camp's needs.
It will take 500
Campfire
Lighters, giving at the rate of $100 per year, about
8
years to raise the
funds, or 1000 Campfire Lighters 4 years to raise the funds. Once the funds are in place,
the interest generated on the principal will be about $55,000 per
year. This money then will be used for annual capital improvements and
equipment replacement.
