Does Your Story Keep You Sick?
Chinese medicine says that emotions, attitude and lifestyle choices affect our bodies. Why do we catch more colds when we're sad? Why does our stomach hurt when we're angry? Learn how to achieve health in a holistic way by understanding the interplay of the mind and organ systems.
Belly Dancing
Introduction to basic movements following a gentle warm-up. Learn a short routine to practice at home. All ages and levels welcome.
Jody is a licensed acupuncturist living in Sonoma County, CA. Her clinic specializes in pain, stress and women's health. She belly dances not only for fun but as part of her body-mind-spirit wellness program.

Honoring Women's Work
Often women feel that their work in the world is unimportant. Men tend to be totally subsumed by their "jobs" while women append work to their "real" life. Let's explore work and how you have arrived at the place you are in your working life. After discussion, we will write or draw about our work in the world and how it shapes our stories.
Elle' is the Health Education Coordinator of the Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Division of the L.A. County Department of Health. She has her M.S. in Public Health.....but travels and enjoys life as much as possible. She holds the honor of being the camper who attends de Benneville the greatest number of times each year.
Make Your Story a Song!
It's Saturday night! We will raise our voices, clap our hands, drum, chant, dance if the spirit moves us, sometimes sing softly but always make the room vibrate with our stories expressed musically and all together.
Tai Chi 101
Wake up and stretch. An easier version of Tai Chi Chuan with movements and meditation to Chinese music.
Originally a choral singer, Heather now chants with two groups, a small group who has been chanting together for over 20 years and Sanctorum, a performance group led by internationalally known classical concert pianist, Lynne Haeseler. Heather leads Tai Chi classes for her Women's Circle and adult education classes in the Phoenix area.

Pre-Retreat Hike/Exploration
For many years, when I came to de Benneville, I never took the opportunity to explore the interesting and beautiful area around the camp. Now, we will explore and see what we can find: wild flowers, birds, views, rocks, trees and maybe some animals.
Early Morning Walk
Each morning, we will warm up to the day with a moderate walk. Maybe we'll go to the lake, perhaps the meadow, the overlook or the creek. Please wear sturdy shoes, we are likely to wander off the trail over uneven ground.
Tie Dying
A perennial camp faviorite, Tie Dying involves twisting and banding cotton or other natural cloth, then applying bright procion dyes to make creative and fun t-shirts, socks, underwear, pillow cases, hankies and other creations. Please be sure to bring 100% white cotton cloth for dying----and wear old clothing that can get spattered.
De Benneville's Administrative Assistant, Caroline helps with registration for camp events, keeps the web page and Facebook profile updated, writes and designs the Connection, and tweets as uucamper. In her free time, she hikes, kayaks, sails, camps, snowshoes, reads and blogs at every opportunity.

All-a-Twitter: Telling Your Story Online
Blogging, Facebook and Twitter have erupted as social networks for women of all ages. Online, women share their stories, create community, and use this communication to change the collective voice of women all over the world. In this workshop, you will learn what a blog is, how to make one, what you can do with one, and how you can change the world with your online words.
Speak Out! Telling Your Story in Public
Overcome the fear of telling your story in front of a group. Stories are one of the most powerful ways we can get our point across. Being able to stand up and speak your truth in front of a group is easier than it seems. It can actually be a lot of fun. Learn basic concepts to manage the fear of public speaking. If you wish, you will have at least one chance to stand up in front of this loving group to practice your new skill.
